Studio Ejarque and our Leaky Lamp II, part of SHINE, the 2026 NYCxDESIGN Festival exhibition presented at The Seaport from May 14–20, 2026. Organized in partnership with COOL HUNTING, sponsored by Kikkerland Design, and curated by Harry Allen, the exhibition brought together more than 70 designers presenting original lighting pieces exploring the intersections of craft, technology, personal expression, and function.
Our Leaky Lamp II is a piece inspired by some of the last remaining gas streetlights still found throughout New York City. The work continues our ongoing exploration of objects that appear to exist in a constant state of transformation — situated somewhere between furniture, light, and sculpture — while reflecting our interest in atmosphere, material evolution, and ambiguous forms.
Developed using our Graphite Bioplastic, the lamp also formed part of our broader research into alternative materials and experimental production processes. Through its texture, surface, and diffused light quality, the piece investigates how sustainable materials can generate new visual and emotional languages within contemporary design practice.
As part of the official festival program, SHINE transformed the historic Seaport district into a platform for contemporary lighting and collectible design, presenting a wide range of approaches to light as both a functional and sculptural medium. Our participation in the exhibition continued our ongoing presence within NYCxDESIGN and our dialogue with the international design community in New York.
